Talia Buford

Talia Buford is an energy reporter for POLITICO Pro. She covers natural gas, the Interior Department and Arctic drilling, and writes Afternoon Energy.

Before joining POLITICO, she spent five years at The Providence (R.I.) Journal, where she specialized in legal affairs, often homing in on technology within the criminal justice system. Buford was also a municipal reporter at the Journal, covering everything from murder trials and town councils to wind energy and Superfund sites.

Buford earned a master’s degree in the study of law from Georgetown University Law Center and studied print journalism at Hampton University. Her work has been recognized by the Rhode Island Press Association, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Foundation. She’s an amateur photographer, a sometimes runner and a proud Michigander.
