Nearly 70% of Americans live in a state with a government trifecta, which is defined as a state government where one political party holds the governorship and a majority in the state house and senate.
This November, there are 18 states whose trifecta status is vulnerable. Control of all three branches of state government allows a party to push through its agenda with minimal pushback.
If trifectas are broken in November, it will rebalance political control between parties which could lead to radical changes to state-level policy.
