Kevin Warsh’s confirmation to lead the Federal Reserve opens a new chapter for the central bank at a moment of intense political pressure from President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly pushed for lower interest rates and clashed with Jerome Powell. Although out as chair, Powell has chosen to continue serving out his term as a Fed governor, which runs until 2028, setting the stage for an unusually public handoff — and potential tension — inside the central bank.
