What’s Next for Prediction Markets as they Rattle Washington

Thursday, May 7, 2026 | 1PM ET

Prediction markets are quickly becoming a major friction point in Washington. In April alone, the Senate established an in-house ban on trading on the platforms, a political candidate was booted from Kalshi for wagering on his own campaign and an American soldier was arrested for allegedly using classified information to win more than $400,000 on Polymarket. While Capitol Hill and regulators figure out what to do about prediction markets, the industry has been steadily ramping up its lobbying operation.

Join POLITICO for a Pro Briefing about these markets, starting at 1pm ET on Thursday, May 7.
